January 2012 Service Changes

Capital Metro will implement several changes to its transit system on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012. These changes are in accordance with Capital Metro's Service Standards and are based on recommendations from Service Plan 2020, a 10-year plan to improve bus service.

Route Modifications

3 Burnet/Manchaca
The route will be realigned from Nueces and Rio Grande to Guadalupe and Lavaca to improve access to UT and directness to downtown.

100 Airport Flyer
The route will be realigned from 7th Street to Riverside Drive and frequency improved to 30 minutes.

240 Rutland
The route will be realigned from Parkfield, Payton Gin, Ohlen and Research Blvd to North Lamar to improve access to shopping.

243 Wells Branch
The route will be realigned from Thermal and Howard Lane to East Wells Branch Parkway and Heatherwilde Blvd to improve access to shopping.

990 Manor/Elgin Express
The route will be realigned to serve the new Manor Park & Ride at Carrie Manor and Lexington.

Trip Eliminations

The following trips will be eliminated due to low ridership:

110 South Central Flyer
Weekdays 7:38 a.m. northbound

201 Southpark Meadows
Sundays 7:30 a.m. southbound and 7:42 a.m. northbound

228 Burleson
Weekdays 9:55 p.m. westbound

338 Lamar/45th
Sundays 5:57 a.m. southbound

Frequency Reductions

The following routes will be reduced in frequency due to low ridership:

5 Woodrow/South Fifth
Weekdays after 9:00 p.m. every 40 minutes (currently 30 minutes)

17 Cesar Chavez
Weekdays between 6:45 - 7:45 a.m. and 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. at every 18 minutes (currently 15 minutes)

311 Stassney
Weekdays & Saturdays after 8:00 p.m. every 45 minutes (currently 30 minutes); Sunday after 7:00 p.m. every 45 minutes (currently 30 minutes)

392 Braker
Weekdays between 6:00 - 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at every 40-45 minutes (currently 35 minutes)

Minor Schedule Adjustments

Capital Metro will make schedule adjustments on the following routes to address overcrowding and/or improve schedule reliability:

MetroRail

After operating MetroRail for over a year, we have learned that train speeds can be safely increased in some segments of our rail line. Capital Metro plans to increase train speeds between Leander and Highland stations on certain trips, which would result in earlier arrivals (up to 4 minutes). The new, faster schedules will be posted on the website and made available to MetroRail riders soon.

Capital Metro may make schedule adjustments to bus service that connects with MetroRail to improve schedule reliability:
