New Fares, Effective Jan. 16, 2011
On Nov. 10, the Capital Metro Board of Directors approved a fare adjustment that will increase some fares and pass rates, standardize MetroExpress and MetroRail fares, and eliminate most free fares. The new fares are effective as of Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011.
The fare increase is necessary to mitigate the rising costs of providing transportation service to the Central Texas region and help improve the financial sustainability of the transit agency.
The new fare structure is divided into three categories: Local (all local MetroBus routes), Regional (MetroExpress and MetroRail), and Reduced (1/2 fare for those who qualify).
