- * Local service includes MetroBus.
- **Regional service includes MetroExpress and MetroRail (and all MetroBus service).
- A single ride MetroRail fare entitles you to ride the train and a rail connector bus route within two hours. It is not valid on any other bus services.
- MetroRail riders may purchase a single ride zoned fare. The cost is $1 for one zone and $2.75 for two zones. All other MetroRail passes must be purchased at the regional rate.
Reduced Fares are available to those with a Capital Metro Reduced Fare ID (formerly the Disability Fare Card). These include seniors 65 and over, Medicare card holders, and people with disabilities. Students 6-18 with a valid school ID, and active and reserve military personnel with a valid ID also ride at the reduced rate.
Your fare buys you transportation along that route, including the end destination. If your trip requires bus or rail transportation beyond that point, you will need to purchase additional fare.
Reduced Fare ID
- The Disability Fare Card is now the Reduced Fare ID (as of January 16, 2011). Riders with a valid Disability Fare Card may use their card as a Reduced Fare ID until it expires.
- The fee for a Reduced Fare ID card is $3. Applications, are available at the Transit Store or you can download the application . The ID is valid for two years.
- Seniors 65 and older, Medicare card holders, and people with disabilities must have a Reduced Fare ID to ride Capital Metro bus and rail services at the reduced rate.
- To use, tap the card at the target area on the fare box when you board the bus, then pay a cash fare, insert a stored value card or swipe a reduced fare pass.
MetroAccess Service
Capital MetroAccess is a demand-response, shared-ride service for people whose disabilities prevent them from riding regular bus and rail service. MetroAccess service complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). MetroAccess offers paratransit service, transit that is parallel in service to fixed-route bus service. MetroAccess Customers
- MetroAccess certified individuals may ride bus and rail services at the reduced rate.
- MetroAccess customers must present their Capital Metro ID card when purchasing a fare or pass.
- The Monthly MetroAccess Pass is also valid on bus and rail services.
- To use the pass on bus or rail, tap the card at the target area on the fare box when you board the bus, then pay a cash fare, insert a stored value card or swipe a reduced fare pass.
Employer/School Pass Program
- University of Texas students, faculty and staff ride at no charge on bus and rail services through a paid agreement with Capital Metro. UT riders must have a valid UT ID to ride free.
- Austin Community College students, faculty and staff ride at no charge on bus and rail services through a paid agreement with Capital Metro. ACC riders must have a valid ACC ID and the ACC Green Pass to ride free.
- City of Austin employees ride at no charge through a similar paid agreement. City of Austin employees must have a city ID and a special transit pass issued by the city of Austin Human Resources department.
No Charge
- Children five and under with an accompanying adult, and emergency and military personnel in uniform ride Capital Metro bus and rail services at no charge.
