ANN STAFFORD, BOARD MEMBER
In 2009, Ann Stafford joined the staff of Texas Performing Arts at The University of Texas at Austin where she is the Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations. From 2000 until 2009, she oversaw Community Affairs programs for Spansion, a Flash memory manufacturer with 8,000 employees worldwide, and was responsible for local school partnerships, community grants and employee involvement as well as global programs and reporting.
Her personal community involvement includes Community Action Network, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and Envision Central Texas Boards, and Community Board for United Way Capital Area. She is an instructional leader and coach with Good Community is Good Business helping small to mid-size businesses develop community involvement strategies and programs, a member of the planning committee for the Entrepreneurs Foundations Corporate Social Opportunity Conference, and a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels and More.
Stafford is a Harwood Foundation Public Innovator and is currently participating in the Community Studio, a collaboration of the University of Texas at Austin, United Way Capital Area and Hands On Central Texas Collaboration.
In 2005, she was named Outstanding Community Affairs Executive of the Year by the Austin Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The following year she was recognized as a “Local Hero” by Bank of America, and in 2008, she received the Butler Award in the category of Community Bridge Builder from the Community Action Network.
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Stafford earned a B.A. in Journalism from Auburn University “back in the dark ages before desktop publishing when photos had to be enlarged in the dark room and spell check meant pulling Webster’s off the shelf.” Her continuing education includes National Society of Fund Raising Executives, Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, Leadership Austin, National Coalition Building Institute, and a broad range of computer classes. Despite her strong southern accent, Stafford has made presentations to the Governor’s Conference on Volunteerism, Leadership Austin, Austin Fundraising Professionals, UT Continuing Education, Directors of Volunteers in Austin, RGK Center for Philanthropy and Greenlights for Nonprofit Success.
