NORM CHAFETZ, BOARD MEMBER
Norm Chafetz is a business development consultant with over seventeen years of experience in the planning, design and financing of transportation and intermodal projects.
The Williamson County Commissioners Court appointed Chafetz to the Capital Metro Board of Directors in December 2009. He has previous experience with Capital Metro working for the agency when it was first created in 1985. He served as the Director of Government Relations for two years. He also has additional transit industry experience having worked for Houston Metro, the Federal Transit Administration, the Arizona Transit Association and the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission.
Chafetz is no stranger to public service. As a longtime resident of the Anderson Mill neighborhood of Austin, he has served on the Anderson Mill Municipal Utility District Board and as president of the Anderson Mill Neighborhood Association, in addition to his service within many professional organizations. He has also served on the board of the Paramount Theater.
Chafetz was born and raised in Chicago. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University and studied Public Administration in the graduate program at Roosevelt University.
