Capital Metro Public Comment Policy and Procedures

POLICY/ PROCEDURES

Policy:

It is the policy of the Board that input from the public is encouraged. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that interested parties representing various points of view are allowed time to present their views while permitting the Board Committees to conduct their meetings in an efficient and effective manner.

Procedures:

  1. No more than five (5) members of the public who desire to speak to the Board on any topic may sign up at least three (3) days in advance of a Board Committee meeting by notifying the Board Liaison by telephone (512-389-7458), fax (512-369-6504), or e-mail (gina.estrada@capmetro.org).
  2. Copies of the posted Board meeting agenda and Request for Comment forms will be available outside the Boardroom prior to the Board Committee meeting for no more than five (5) members of the public who desire to sign up to speak on a particular *agenda item.
  3. Following the staff presentation on an *agenda item at the Board meeting, the Board Committee Chair will recognize each person who has completed a Request for Comment form for that *agenda item.
  4. Each public comment will be limited to three (3) minutes.
  5. If more than one member of the public from a particular group has requested to speak, the group must select one representative of the group to present the group’s view. In such a case, the group’s representative will be allowed five (5) minutes to speak.

THE BOARD COMMITTEES RESERVE THE RIGHT TO WAIVE THIS POLICY AND THESE PROCEDURES WHEN NECESSARY TO CONDUCT BOARD COMMITTEE MEETINGS EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY.
