Out (Late) for a Night on the Town?
Whether you live here or are just visiting, Capital Metro offers safe and inexpensive options for traveling at night. Consider taking one of our special late-night services, the Night Owl and E-Bus, to get to and from your destination safely.
The Night Owl service operates year-round from midnight until 3 a.m. on Monday through Saturday nights. Buses run between popular late-night destinations on 6th Street and local neighborhoods every 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the route. A single ride on the Night Owl bus costs $1.25.
Three E-Bus (Entertainment Bus) routes operate each fall and spring, when more UT students are on campus. During these seasons, E-Buses operate from midnight until 3 a.m. on Thursday through Saturday nights. Members of the general public as well as UT students and faculty can ride E-Buses between popular student housing neighborhoods and Downtown. A single ride on the E-Bus costs $1.25.
E-Bus service runs only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights during the University of Texas school year. E-Bus service does not run during the summer or school breaks.
Calling it a Night - Earlier?
You can also ride MetroRail, MetroRapid or the local MetroBus to get to and from your destination. These regular services end earlier than the Night Owl or E-Bus.
MetroRail operates between Downtown and Leander until about 1 a.m. on Friday (last departure from Downtown at 12:30 a.m.) and Saturday nights (last departure at from Downtown at midnight). A single ride on MetroRail costs $3.50.
MetroRapid service runs until midnight on Monday through Saturday nights, with service every 30 minutes. A single ride on MetroRapid costs $1.75. Route 801 runs between Tech Ridge and Southpark Meadows and Route 803 runs between The Domain and Westgate.
MetroBus operates throughout the city. Service ends between 10 p.m. and midnight, depending on the route. A single ride on MetroBus is $1.25.
