Capital Metro, in collaboration with the City of Austin, has added new weekend service on MetroRail.

"We already know that MetroRail has been successful in enticing commuters to leave their cars at home during the week, as rush hour trips have been standing room only," said Capital Metro President/CEO Linda S. Watson. "But the community has asked for more, and thanks to city support, now we

have an opportunity to attract new riders
into downtown for entertainment."

In addition to regular daytime service on Fridays, MetroRail trains now run hourly through midnight between Downtown and Leander stations.

On Saturdays MetroRail trains now
operate every 34 minutes from 4 p.m.
through midnight between Downtown and
Lakeline stations.

MetroRail is an affordable way to travel downtown at only $2.75 per one-way ticket.

Rail connector bus routes are in service only Monday through Friday during the daytime hours, and regular fares apply.

The Austin City Council approved an interlocal agreement with Capital Metro
that funds the nighttime service for the
next 34 months.
