Capital Metro to Stage MetroRail Emergency Drill
January 22, 2009 - Capital Metro will conduct an emergency drill on Thursday, January 29 at 10 a.m. simulating a collision between a MetroRail train and a vehicle at the Metro Drive railroad crossing at the entrance of the Leander Station. Residents should be advised that they may see numerous emergency vehicles in the area during this drill.
Capital Metro and emergency responders from the City of Leander and surrounding jurisdictions will participate to practice emergency coordination, evacuation and rescue procedures in a real-time situation.
Capital Metro encourages the news media to cover this event. Parking will be available in the park and ride lot at the Leander Station. Please be advised that media will not be permitted to cross police lines since emergency responders will cordon off the scene as they would during an actual emergency.
