Proposed Fare Increase
|
Capital Metro is proposing to accelerate a previously approved fare increase to January 2010, including some additional increases on passes. The purpose of the fare increase proposal is to improve the overall sustainability of the transit agency. The Board is expected to make a decision at a special meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Capital MetroRail and Express Fares The fares proposal includes some changes to MetroRail and MetroExpress fares. Those fares are currently the same, but in the proposal they become two distinct fares. A MetroRail Day Pass would become the ¿all services¿ pass. MetroRail fares would be priced based on three separate zones instead of two. The three zones would be made up of the following stations: Leander and Lakeline; Howard and Kramer; and, Crestview, Highland, MLK Jr., Saltillo Plaza and Downtown. If you stay within the zone from which you purchased your ticket, you pay the one zone fare. If you cross zones, you¿ll pay a higher fare. Capital Metro values your opinion. Staff conducted a thorough public outreach campaign to inform customers and the community about the proposed fare increase. If you missed the meetings and public hearing, there is still time to submit feedback. Please submit your comments by Nov. 3 via email at farecomments@capmetro.org, or call 512.385.0190. |
