JOHN LANGMORE, BOARD MEMBER

JOHN LANGMORE, BOARD MEMBER

As a transportation and land use consultant, John Langmore has assisted in the financing of numerous roadway projects, worked on the largest pending rail relocation in Texas and has been an integral team member on successful bids on some of the country’s largest infrastructure projects. He played a principal role in formulating and drafting one of the most comprehensive transportation bills passed in the state of Texas. House Bill 3588 completely altered the landscape for transportation projects by including legislation for regional mobility authorities, comprehensive development agreements, pass-through financing and a variety of new funding methods for transportation projects including funding the Texas Mobility Fund.

Prior to returning to Texas, Langmore served as an executive for the world’s largest manufacturer of earth-moving equipment and industrial engines. He worked in a number of capacities for Caterpillar including legal counsel for Solar Turbines, Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation and Caterpillar Asia. He also managed all of Caterpillar’s business in New South Wales, Australia, and the South Pacific before returning to the United States where he managed over $500 million worth of business in the southeast U.S. Langmore spent half of his career with Caterpillar in overseas assignments including Singapore and Sydney. He worked on virtually every aspect of Caterpillar’s business and saw success in negotiating large transactions, increasing market share and advising Caterpillar dealers on all aspects of their business operations.

Langmore began his career as a lawyer in the corporate and securities group of one of the nation’s preeminent law firms, Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. He has a B.B.A. degree with honors, an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.

Langmore’s other accomplishments include being named to the boards of Envision Central Texas, the Alliance for Public Transportation, the Congress for the New Urbanism and being a founding member of the Austin Center for Photography. He takes great pride in being involved in a number of charitable activities.
