Jury Duty Transportation Information

Citizens who are called to serve the public for jury duty can depend on public transportation to get them to the courthouse. Capital Metro’s Gold and Red 'Dillos serve the Travis County Courthouse from free park and ride lots near downtown. Park your car and hop one of these vintage replicas of old-time trolley cars and ride free of charge!

  • Gold ‘Dillo (Toomey Road Park & Ride) – The Gold ‘Dillo begins service from the free parking lot at Toomey Baseball Fields (Toomey Road – one block west of Lamar Blvd.). From here service continues along Barton Springs Road, Congress Avenue to the Capitol, Travis County Courthouse (at 11th St. and Guadalupe), Austin Community College (Rio Grande Campus) and the University of Texas main campus area.
     
  • Red ‘Dillo (Austin High Park & Ride) – The Red ‘Dillo begins service from the free parking area at Austin High Tennis Center (Stephen F Austin Blvd./under MoPac). From here service continues along Congress Avenue to the Capitol, Travis County Courthouse (at 11th St. and Guadalupe), Austin Community College (Rio Grande Campus) and the University of Texas main campus area.

HOW to RIDE

To Travis County Courthouse (Gold or Red Dillo)

  1. Travel to the Park & Ride lot of choice (Red or Gold Dillo) and park at the free parking area.
  2. Board the trolley at the designated bus stop by the park & ride lot.
  3. The trolley will take you to the Travis County Courthouse (at 11th St. at Guadalupe). To signal the bus operator that you wish to get off, pull the cord that hangs by the window when you are about a block away from Guadalupe (Lavaca Street). Start looking for it right after you pass the Capitol.

From Travis County Courthouse back to Park & Ride (Gold or Red Dillo)

  1. When you leave the Travis County Courthouse building, walk towards 11th St. (along side the courthouse building) to the bus stop for both Gold and Red Dillo (the bus stop is located on 11th St. at Guadalupe).
  2. When the trolley arrives at the stop, make sure you read the sign on the bus or ask the bus operator if you have any questions. (Gold travels to Toomey Road and Red is to Austin High).
  3. Board the correct ‘Dillo and return to your Park & Ride location.

SERVICE AFTER 8PM – BACK to PARK & RIDE

The last trolley for the Red and Gold ‘Dillo passes by the 11th St bus stop at 8:15 pm

If you must stay beyond 8pm, park at Toomey Road Park & Ride (Gold Dillo). From 5am to 12 midnight, Route 3 Burnet/Manchaca picks up across from the Travis County Courthouse (at 11th St. between Lavaca St. and Guadalupe – bus stop with the shelter). From here, the bus travels through downtown and onto Lamar Blvd. You may deboard the bus at Lamar Blvd./Toomey Road (Schlotzsky’s Restaurant) and walk 2 blocks west back to the Toomey Park & Ride lot. The cost for this ride is 50 cents.
