Trip Planner Help

Entering locations

To Plan a Trip, you need to enter both starting AND ending locations.

Find Schedule Information, Find Routes Near a Location, and Find Closest Stops to a Location requires only one location to be entered.

The Trip Planner recognizes most street intersections and addresses as well as many landmarks in the Capital Metro Service Area. If what you entered is not immediately recognized, the Trip Planner will offer you a list of options. You can choose one of the options, but if your intended location is not there, you can use your browser's "Back" button to return to your request and change the entries you have already made.

These tips may help you enter a location:

Addresses (Example: 2910 E 5th)

  • You have to enter a block number or range (Example: 2910 or 2000 with street) if you are trying to get a specific address. The system will assume that the street name is a Landmark if you don't give it an address. If you don't know the actual address or block range you should use the Intersection method to query the system. This will provide you the selections that are valid for the intersecting streets matching your street name, street name entry and will give you the stops nearest that intersection (see Intersection examples.)
  • You don't need to type in the directional designations for streets if you do only use N S E or W, don't spell out the direction. If a direction name is part of a proper street name, you should include it. (Example: West Lynn Street, note that West Lynn is the proper name of the street, if you are looking for only Lynn Street, you would not need put in a designation for direction because it will find Lynn Street with the valid designations .) If you know that you want South (S) Congress you can put in S Congress and you will get the address without having to select between S Congress and Congress.
  • You don't need to type in St., Street, Ave., or Avenue, or similar street types. The Trip Planner shows the possible alternatives as options if needed. (Example: type 2910 E 5th instead of 2910 East 5th Street)
  • You don't need to enter the suite number or apartment number, just the house number and street name (Example: type in 401 5th instead of 401 5th Street Suite 800).
  • You don't need to type in the city along with the address. The Trip Planner shows the possible city names as options, if needed.
  • Some streets and addresses are unknown to the Trip Planner. You may need to enter instead a nearby location, such as an intersection or a landmark.

Intersections (Example: 5th,Pleasant Valley)

  • Type either the comma, an ampersand or an at symbol (Example: , & @) between two street names to indicate an intersection. (Examples: 5th, Pleasand Valley; 6th & Congress; 6th @ San Jacinto)
  • You don't need to type in the city. The Trip Planner shows the possible city names as options if needed.
  • You don't need to type in St., Street, Ave., or Avenue, or similar street types. The Trip Planner shows the possible alternatives as options if needed. (Example: type 5th & Congress, instead of 5th Street & Congress Avenue)
  • You don't need to type in the directional designations for streets, but if a direction name is part of a street name, you should include it. (Example: type 5th & West instead of W 5th Street & West Ave)
  • Some streets addresses are unknown to the Trip Planner. You may need to enter another nearby intersection or a landmark.
