Tomorrow,
all Capital Metro passengers can ride the bus free on all routes, in
conjunction with the forecasted Ozone Action Day. On
Ozone Action Days, Capital Metro sees an average increase in ridership by up to
ten percent. 2003 marks the 10th year that the agency has been
providing free rides to customers on Ozone Action Days and is one component of
the agency’s overall efforts to reduce emissions and improve the air in Central
Texas.
The Capital Metropolitan Transportation
Authority provides bus service on flexible,
convenient schedules at more than 4,000 bus stops throughout Central Texas,
providing riders with an average of nearly 130,000 one-way trips each day.
Capital Metro’s fixed route bus service includes 60 metro and flyer routes,
five downtown circulator ‘Dillo routes, seven Express routes and 15 UT shuttle
routes. Capital Metro also offers 30 AISD school routes, van and carpooling
coordination, shuttles to special events and special transit services for the
