Austin Police have cleared
the scene of an accident involving a Capital Metro bus and a van. The accident
happened this morning around 10:45 at the corner of San Jacinto and 2nd
Street. According to witnesses, the van driver heading south on San Jacinto may
have run a red light. The van hit the Capital Metro bus as it passed through
the intersection of San Jacinto and 2nd Street. The bus was westbound on 2nd
Street.
EMS took a total of nine
people to area hospitals including the driver of the van and the driver of the
Capital Metro bus. Six people went to
St. David’s Hospital and three to Brackenridge Hospital. All but one suffered minor injuries. Brackenridge Hospital reports one patient
suffered “significant” injuries. The
hospital isn’t releasing names at this time.
Austin Police and Capital
Metro officials are continuing their investigations. Capital Metro Supervisors are finishing their on-site
investigation.
