New Schedule Changes Offers Riders More Options

 

Capital Metro Expands Service to Keep up With 6.5 Percent Ridership Increase

 

WHO:

·         Capital Metro riders who use the North Lamar Transfer Center

 

WHAT:

Karen Rae will greet morning commuters at the North Lamar Transfer Center Friday with doughnuts and new schedule books.   New, improved schedules begin Sunday, August 13th.

 

WHERE:

North Lamar Transfer Center, 183 and N. Lamar.

 

WHEN:

Friday, August 11, 2000 at 7:00 a.m.

 

WHY:

Service changes take place August 13 to improve on-time performance with better scheduling and provide additional bus service on Capital Metro’s more popular routes.  Service changes offer expanded service to South Austin and more express service to North Austin.

 

 

·         Routes #10 S. 1st and #12 Manchaca have extended to Slaughter Lane to service farther south Austin.

·         Route #985 LX-Downtown Express has added two morning and afternoon trips to the schedule.  This route offers non-stop service to downtown.

·         Route #383 Research, established in February, is already one of Capital Metro’s most popular cross-town routes.

 

Service changes that have taken place over the last year have increased ridership on fixed routes by 6.5 percent.
