The City of Leander is
making it easier for residents to leave their cars at home and leave the
driving to Capital Metro. Customers
will soon be able to pay their utility bills and buy a bus pass all in one
place. The City of Leander started
selling Capital Metro bus passes beginning Monday, August 20, 2001, at City
Hall. The passes are on sale at the
Utilities Department at City Hall located at 200 W. Willis Street.
“This is the type of
partnership we’d like to see more of,” said David Harper, Capital Metro Board
Member representing Williamson County.
“We need to continue to work with all the communities in our service
area to find creative ways to get more people to use our bus system. Having a bus pass outlet in the heart of
Leander will be convenient for our Northwest customers.”
As a result of the
August 2001 service changes, Leander residents now have more express, non-stop
service into downtown Austin. The
Leander Express split into five separate routes. Leander residents commuting downtown can take the 983 N. US 183
Express, 986 Leander Direct and the 987 Leander/NW Express Routes from the
Leander Park & Ride located at the Leander Church of Christ.
In Addition, passengers
may continue to use the North West Park & Ride near Lakeline Mall and the
Pavillion Park & Ride to commute downtown.
Schedule
Books, along with handy Pocket Route Schedules for individual services, will be
available along with bus passes at Leander City Hall.
