WHAT:
Capital Metro and The University of
Texas roll out a fleet of buses with a distinctive Longhorn look. 30 burnt orange-striped “Bevo Buses” are
hitting the streets of Austin this spring.
“Hook ‘em” will help christen the new fleet Friday at noon.
WHERE: East Mall Fountain circle drive at San
Jacinto and 23rd Street.
WHEN: Friday, January 19, at 12:00 noon
WHY:
Capital Metro is in the process of
replacing the entire UT fleet (currently 87 buses) with newer-model buses. This is part of Capital Metro’s on-going
strategic plan to continuously upgrade its entire fleet. 6 million people ride the UT Shuttle every
year (about 38,000 per day during the semester). The new burnt orange striping demonstrates UT pride and ownership
and makes the buses stand out from Capital Metro’s mainline fleet.
