Capital Metro General Manager Agrees to Contract Extension

Board Members Committed to Continuing ‘Impressive Turnaround’

Capital Metro General Manager Karen Rae agreed Monday to a 3-year contract extension, which runs through October 1, 2003.   Rae’s current contract would have expired October 1, 2001.

“We want Ms. Rae to continue to help lead the impressive turnaround this agency began three years ago,” said Lee Walker, Capital Metro Board Chairman. “This board understands building the best transit system in the country is not a short-term process.  We feel fortunate Ms. Rae has agreed to stay with Capital Metro to help us reach our goals.”

Rae currently earns a base salary of $110,000.  In 2001, she will earn $116,500.

The contract also calls for a performance bonus based on Rae’s ability to meet specific goals in four major areas.

·                     Customer Service

·                     Employee Relations

·                     Community Involvement

·                     Internal and External Communications

Rae started at Capital Metro on October 1, 1998.   In less then three years, the agency has made nationally-recognized improvements in several key areas including ethics, efficiency of the bus operation, finance and budget, contracts and procurements, ridership, and customer service.
