Capital Metro Board approves service changes for February

The Capital Metro Board of Directors Tuesday approved a series of bus service changes for February 2002.  The changes include:

·        Extensions of routes into North Austin areas not previously served by Capital Metro fixed-route service.

·        Two new crosstown routes in North Austin in the Braker Lane corridor and the Parmer Lane corridor.

·        An extension of an existing crosstown route in Southeast Austin along the William Cannon route serving neighborhoods Southeast of Onion Creek.

·        Better connections to major activity centers such as the Arboretum area.

·        Frequency and hour improvements for Route 320 St. Johns in East Austin and 325 Ohlen in North Austin, the most productive weekend service in the entire Capital Metro system.

·        Schedule adjustments targeted at improved on-time performance on ten routes.

The service changes are based on an extensive public outreach campaign and are designed to meet customer needs.

The changes become effective Sunday, February 24, 2002.

Detailed information about the changes will be available on the Capital Metro website (capmetro.org) beginning Wednesday, November 14.
