Capital Metro awards Marketing and Public Relations Contract

The Capital Metro Board of Directors approved award of a contract for Marketing and Public Relations services to Sherry Matthews Advocacy Marketing at today's board meeting.

Sherry Matthews Advocacy Marketing will be the primary contractor and has presented a proposal of work that includes significant contributions from specialized subcontractors:

  • TateAustin, Public Relations Partner
  • Nustats, Research Partner

Sherry Matthews brings a history of award-winning experience and commitment to public education campaigns and businesses in Texas that include:

  • Texas Department of Health (Hepatitis C - "Knife Thrower" TV campaign)
  • TNRCC (Oil recycling campaign - "Don't be Crude")
  • TXDOT (Santa's Coming to Town - Don't Hit Him)
  • Texas General Land Office
  • Texas Railroad Commission
  • Texas Transportation Institute
  • Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau - Agency of Record
  • Brackenridge Hospital - Agency of Record
  • Whole Foods

TateAustin has played a role in many of the important issues and agencies that have helped shape the Austin area over the past two decades:

NuStats is a full-service research and consulting firm that specializes in transit and urban transportation issues. They have performed significant research projects for Capital Metro over the past decade that include:

  • The AIM Study
  • Baseline Marketing Studies of 1992 and 1995

The base contract period is from the date of the contract award through September 30, 2002. The proposed price for the first year is within Capital Metro's adopted budget. Expenditures in future years of the contract will depend on available funds. The proposed price for each year of the contract is as follows:

Base Contract Year $ 476,000
Option Year One $ 787,000
Option Year Two $ 830,000
Option Year Three $ 830,000
Option Year Four $ 873,000

Total Proposed Contract Price $3,796,000 (over 5 years)

The contract contains a 30% goal for participation by Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE's).
