The Project Connect System Plan would bring new transit options to Austin, including a new rail system that travels under downtown to improve on-time performance. The new rail services would also connect North and South Austin, provide a direct route to the airport, cross the river before extending down South Congress and serve East Austin and Colony Park. Expanded bus service - including more MetroRapid, MetroExpress and on-demand circulators - and 24 new Park & Rides would provide more connections into the larger transit system.

About “Initial Investment” & “System Plan”

A ballot measure for the Project Connect Initial Investment will be on the November 2020 ballot.

It was a collaborative process between the Capital Metro board and the Austin City Council that resulted in the Initial Investment portion of Project Connect being put before voters this year. Leading up to the November election, the governing bodies took the following actions:
