Healthy Streets Pilot Program

Amid the coronavirus pandemic and advisories to practice social distancing, the Austin City Council has recommended the city's transportation department work to create more space for people to exercise and enjoy the city's outdoors. As a part of that effort, three streets will be partially closed to regular vehicle traffic beginning Thursday, May 21.

Neighborhood residents may still drive on these streets, and CapMetro buses are allowed to access them as normal. But the pilot program may affect our service in these neighborhoods. The affected streets are:

  • Comal from Manor Road to Nash Hernandez (This will not affect CapMetro service.)
  • Oltorf from Pleasant Valley to Wickersham (Routes 228 & 310 will still serve bus stops along this stretch.)
  • Bouldin Ave. from Ben White to Barton Springs Rd. (Route 105 will operate as normal, without a detour.)
