January 2021 Service Changes

Capital Metro makes planned changes to our service 3 times each year to improve the customer experience and respond to shifts in how our riders use the service.

We also have made changes to respond to the coronavirus pandemic to ensure we’re adhering to the latest guidelines from health experts and maintaining customer and employee safety. Remember to visit our COVID-19 update page to see the latest news on service levels as they may continue to change as the community responds to the pandemic.

Return With Care

Most CapMetro routes are operating their regular service levels. Please wear a face-covering onboard our vehicles and at our facilities, and stay home if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.

With the shift of university classes online, all UT Shuttle routes are suspended through until Feb. 1 at least, effective Jan. 14.

Visit CapMetro.org/COVID19 for details and sign up to receive MetroAlerts to get the latest updates affecting our service.

New Facilities

Some services have changed after the opening of our new Downtown Station and the Eastside Bus Plaza, plus the reconfiguration of how we serve ACC Riverside.

Downtown Station

The new Downtown Station opened for service to one platform in October. The completed station will open early in 2021 with service to all three platforms. MetroRail schedules changed on January 10. Please use the Trip Planner to make sure of your trip times.

Eastside Bus Plaza

Constructed in partnership with CARTS, the Richard A. Moya Eastside Bus Plaza will connect residents outside of Austin with CapMetro service. The facility has not yet opened, and routes serving the new Eastside Bus Plaza will continue to operate as they have previously, outside the facility.

Our online Schedules and Maps reflect the planned routing, and so the affected routes are now operating on a detour. Those routes are:

ACC Riverside

We’ve worked with our partners at ACC to rebuild the bus stops at the Riverside campus, and so customers now catch their bus and are dropped off on Grove Blvd. and not on campus. Routes affected include:
