North Base Demand Response Facility & Centralized Warehouse
We aim to meet the demands of our growing demand response ridership (CapMetro Access & Pickup Services) by building a LEED certified, sustainably built and thoughtfully designed workplace and warehouse that generates workforce opportunities and supports the local community. This project is partially funded by a $20 million dollar grant from the Federal Transit Administration.
- Where?: 25 acres of undeveloped land at 10805 Cameron Rd (the intersection of Cameron Rd & Blue Goose Rd)
- When?: Construction will occur from 2025-2027
- Why?: To accommodate an expanding fleet, consolidate CapMetro leased sites, create efficient warehouse operations, generate jobs, expand transit access and create a multi-use public space to benefit the community
- What can I expect? During construction, we will make improvements to the roadways and traffic control as well as connect and lay utility lines from outside areas to the facility.
What will be at the facility?
- Approximately 220 Demand Response transit vehicles
- Central warehouse & storage building
- Maintenance bays
- Fueling & service island
- Operations & administrative staff

Community Focused Benefits
Community Space
The facility will include a multi-use public community space. The details are still under development.
Sustainability
In alignment with CapMetro’s Sustainability Vision Plan, the facility will incorporate several sustainable features, such as solar panels, energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures and more. The design will also aid in the future transition to a zero-emission vehicle fleet.
Job Creation
We'll create new roles for operators, vehicle technicians, dispatchers, vendors, contractors and administrative staff. Construction of the facility will also boost employment opportunities. These jobs will provide competitive salaries and benefits and help support the local economy long after the building is complete.
Public Art
The project will incorporate new public art through the CapMetro Art program in which a local artist will be engaged to create art that represents the community.
