Service During Extreme Heat
During extreme temperatures, CapMetro is urging our customers and staff to stay safe.
Rides to Cooling Centers
Due to extreme heat, public libraries and parks & recreation facilities serve as cooling centers during business hours. Cooling Centers are meant to serve as a temporary reprieve for those needing a break from the heat during the day, and not as overnight shelters or for prolonged visits. Service animals are permitted in City facilities.
CapMetro offers cost-free rides to cooling centers when the City of Austin extends the centers' operating hours. Anyone seeking a ride to a cooling center who does not have the means to pay the fare will still be given a ride.
