CapMetro Announces Project Connect Next Steps at November Board Meeting

Board members will also discuss the launch of the Austin Transit Partnership.

WHAT: On Monday, November 23, CapMetro will hold its first board meeting since Austin community members voted in favor of Proposition A. Board members will update the public on Project Connect progress, including the launch of the Austin Transit Partnership, the independent organization leading the design, construction and implementation of the Project Connect program.

WHERE: The board meeting will be held as a live virtual event, hosted on CapMetro’s website. The video recording and topics discussed will be available following the meeting.

DETAILS: Project Connect is Austin’s public transportation plan and the largest transit referendum to pass in the nation this year. The historic Proposition A was approved on November 3. The plan includes a $7.1 billion plan that will add 27 new miles of rail service, an expanded all-electric bus system and $300 million in resources devoted to anti-displacement efforts along new routes. During the meeting, board members will discuss the details of the ATP formation and application process, Project Connect advances, such as the Red Line construction, and the upcoming virtual community meetings and open houses in early 2021.
