Reloadable Fare Card on New Scanners

New CapMetro Reloadable Fare Card

By April 1, plastic cards (31-day, 7-day, stored value and plastic passes supplied by social services) need to be exchanged for the new CapMetro Reloadable Fare Card, which features daily and monthly fare capping benefits. Visit the Transit Store at 1705 Guadalupe St. Read how to set up your new fare card.

Automatic fare capping! No passes needed.

What is fare capping? Using the new fare card or the Umo app, you can pay per ride for Bus or Rail instead of paying the full cost upfront for a pass. When you've spent the equivalent of a daily or monthly pass, you've met the cap and the rest of your rides are free until the next day or month.

New, faster scanners

New scanners are currently being installed to work with the Umo app to make contactless payments easier and get you boarded even faster.

Updated Retailers

Load cash to your Umo app or Reloadable Fare Card at an updated network of participating retailers and the Transit Store. Purchase pre-loaded cards at HEB.

What do you need to do?

There is no change for you. Continue to use your paper pass (with magnetic stripe on the back) or cash on the fare box.
