CapMetro Demand Response North Base
We aim to meet the demands of our growing Demand Response ridership (CapMetro Access & Pickup Services) with a sustainably built and thoughtfully designed operational facility, workplace and warehouse that generates workforce opportunities and supports the local community. This project is partially funded by a $20 million dollar grant from the Federal Transit Administration.
- Where? 25 acres of undeveloped land at 10805 Cameron Rd (the intersection of Cameron Rd & Blue Goose Rd)
- When? Construction will take place from 2026-2028
- Why? To accommodate our expanding fleet, consolidate CapMetro leased sites, create efficient warehouse operations, generate jobs, expand transit access and create a multi-use public space to benefit the community
- What can I expect? During construction, we will make improvements to the roadways and traffic control as well as connect and lay utility lines from outside the property to the facility.
What will be at the facility?
- Approximately 220 Demand Response transit vehicles
- Central warehouse & storage building
- Maintenance bays
- Fueling & service island
- Operations & administrative staff
- Dispatch
- Customer call center
- Training & conference rooms
- Vehicles training course
- Visitor & staff parking
- Electric vehicle chargers
Community Space
The facility will include a multi-use community space that can be reserved by the public. The details are still under development.
Job Creation
We'll create new roles for operators, vehicle technicians, dispatchers, vendors, contractors and administrative staff. Construction of the facility will also boost employment opportunities. These jobs will provide competitive salaries and benefits and help support the local economy long after the building is complete.
Sustainability
In alignment with CapMetro's Sustainability Vision Plan, the facility will incorporate several sustainable features, such as energy-efficient HVAC and lighting systems, water conservation measures, drought tolerant and native landscaping and more.
