CapMetro Board Approves Contract for New President/CEO
Randy Clarke to start new job on March 7
CapMetro's board of directors has voted to approve a contract for Randy Clarke to become the agency's new President/CEO. Clarke is expected to assume his new role at CapMetro on March 7.
For the past two years, Clarke served as vice president of operations and member services at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) in Washington, D.C.
Prior to that, he spent seven years in various positions with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in Boston, including deputy chief operating officer and assistant general manager of engineering, maintenance and preparedness, and senior director of security.
Clarke was a key member of the senior leadership team at the MBTA, which provides 1.2 million trips daily. He was featured in Mass Transit magazine's 2011 “Top 40 under 40” list, which highlights leaders in the transit industry nationwide.
Clarke has said that he looks forward to being a visible leader for CapMetro during a time of continuing growth in the region. “I want to thank the board of directors for giving me this opportunity," he said. "I can't wait to get started and lead CapMetro as the Central Texas region addresses its complex mobility challenges. I look forward to working with the community and stakeholders to develop equitable and innovative transit solutions.”
CapMetro went through a rigorous search process to ensure the agency found the best possible leader to take it forward. The board selected Clarke as its choice earlier this month. Executive search firm Krauthamer & Associates aided CapMetro starting in late July 2017 when Linda Watson announced her retirement following more than seven years in the position.
