Proposed January 2027 Service Changes
CapMetro is proposing minor updates to our bus and rail schedules to improve reliability. If approved, the following schedule changes would begin Sunday, January 10, 2027. Public engagement will also include the proposed budget for FY2027 and fare increases.

Minor Weekday Frequency Adjustments on Rapid 803 and Route 337
To support system sustainability and better match service levels with ridership and corridors, CapMetro proposes the following minor frequency adjustments:
- Route 337 Koenig/Colony Park would operate every 20 minutes on weekdays instead of every 15 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and every 25 minutes on weekdays instead of every 20 minutes from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Rapid 803 Burnet/South Lamar would operate every 12-13 minutes on weekdays instead of every 10-11 minutes from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
These adjustments better align service levels with long-standing declines in ridership and allow the agency to optimize resources to improve reliability and service delivery.
Minor Weekday Frequency Adjustments on CapMetro Rail
To provide a more consistent, clear and reliable schedule, CapMetro Rail is proposed to operate every 37 minutes on weekdays, instead of a highly variable 25-60+ minute frequency. Due to shared operations with freight, there will still be no midday trips serving Leander (from about 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). Service hours would remain the same (5:30 a.m - 7:30 p.m. on Mondays - Thursdays, and 5:30 a.m. - 12:30 a.m. on Fridays).
The proposed schedule reflects feedback from Transit Plan 2035 to better standardize and improve Rail frequencies, align with long-term service recommendations and account for future I-35 construction impacts. This allows for more maintenance time and enhances service reliability, while improving consistency and increasing frequency during certain periods like midday and afternoon service.
Minor Bus Schedule & Pickup Adjustments
We're proposing an expansion of the Pickup East ATX zone to include 3100 E. 5th Street (a CapMetro Administrative Building) to improve access to public meetings.
To improve on-time performance, reliability, and better serve customers, select routes may receive minor adjustments to their schedules or bus stop locations. Specific adjustments are determined further in the service change process to more accurately respond to evolving traffic conditions and construction in the region. Speakers may sign up by emailing boardofdirectors@capmetro.org, or by calling (512) 369-6040 and leaving a message with name and telephone number. The deadline to sign up to speak remotely is 8 a.m. on September 16, 2026. Instructions on how to participate virtually will be provided via email or phone just after 8 a.m. on the day of the hearing. For in-person participation, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the hearing to sign up to speak.

Proposed CapMetro FY2027 Budget
CapMetro's Board of Directors will review the proposed budget for fiscal year 2027. If approved, the budget will be effective on October 1, 2026.
