CapMetro aims to help contribute to the building of community and culture throughout Central Texas through its public arts program by:
- helping to create inviting public spaces that people want to return to.
- supporting local artists by commissioning their work and providing an income.
- helping to increases a sense of home and belonging for people who live in these neighborhoods.
- working in partnership with local government agencies, nonprofits and other community organizations.
Open Call for Visual Artists and Selection Panel Members
Similar to how we’ve worked with musicians through the MetroArts – Music program, we’re inviting local artists to apply to our MetroArts – Visual Arts program. CapMetro wants a strong network of artists who’ll be able to partner with us in creating meaningful public art on vehicles, at transit centers and in your own neighborhoods. CapMetro is also looking for people to apply to serve as paid jurors on its artists-pool selection panel.
Projects we’ve done in the past have included bus wraps, murals at transit facilities and art applied directly to bus shelters. Sound interesting? Please select apply now below and then fill out the application for consideration.
