ACL Crowds to Benefit from Enhanced CapMetro Service

AUSTIN, Texas - CapMetro makes it easy to get to and from Austin City Limits Music Festival. Festival goers can choose from a variety of services including Metrobus, MetroRapid and MetroExpress routes, all of which offer convenient and low-cost ways to travel. Also, don't forget, KIDS RIDE FREE on all CapMetro services, all the time.

Catch the Free ACL Shuttle at Republic Square Park

To reach the shuttle site, ACL attendees have several easy options, including riding MetroRapid, which picks up at dozens of stations along North Lamar/South Congress (Route 801) and drops customers off directly at Republic Square Station. The shuttle begins at 10 a.m. with the final shuttle returning from the park at 11 p.m. each day of the festival. MetroRapid runs until 2:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as on Sundays during the festival.

Several other CapMetro bus lines, including Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 17, 19 and 20, drop riders off within a block of the shuttle site and will operate throughout the festival.

Another option is MetroExpress Routes 980 and 985, which run downtown from North Austin all weekend. Park at the Howard, Lakeline and Leander Station Park & Rides for access to these routes. CapMetro's High-Frequency Network has 14 routes that operate every 15 minutes, 7 days a week, and 8 High-Frequency routes serve Republic Square Park.

As a reminder, personal and ride-share vehicles should not use the transit priority lanes or bus stops to drop off or pick up passengers, as drivers could be ticketed by the Austin Police Department.

Travel directly to Zilker Park

For those looking to catch a ride straight to Zilker Park, MetroRapid 803 is the best option. Riders can pick up MetroRapid at any station between The Domain and Westgate and take it to the Barton Springs Station, located directly on Lamar, near Zilker Park.

Since parking is not provided at the Zilker Park event site, taking transit is the fastest and most convenient way to get there.

Late-Night Service

For festival goers staying out well past the last band leaves the stage, CapMetro offers a few  late-night options. MetroRapid routes run until 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Sunday, and the Night Owl and E-Bus services run between downtown and neighborhoods throughout the city until about 3 a.m. Night Owl and E-Bus services do not operate on Sunday nights, so riders should plan accordingly.

Riders can catch the Night Owl at the downtown bus stop on 6th and Congress. The E-Bus downtown bus stop is now located at 6th and Colorado for Routes 410 West Campus, 411 Riverside and 412 Main Campus.

Service Detours

Due to the festival, regular  bus service will be detoured along Route 30 and for other routes near Republic Square for the duration of the event.

MetroRail is not currently running on weekends, but there are many other options for festival goers to get around town.

Attendees are encouraged to use the  CapMetro App and  Trip Planner to get step-by-step directions for taking CapMetro to ACL. For more information about the festival, visit CapMetro's ACL Festival Service webpage.
