CapMetro Increases Service for SXSW 2020

AUSTIN, Texas - CapMetro will expand its service to accommodate the tens of thousands of people coming into Austin to attend the 2020 South by Southwest Interactive, Film and Music Festival (SXSW), March 13-22.

CapMetro's  High-Frequency Network offers buses Every 15 minutes, every day. With a network of 14 routes, 10 serving downtown directly, getting to the next show on CapMetro is easy. Use the  CapMetro App or  Trip Planner to plan your trip.

In addition to its regular service, CapMetro will offer the following extended hours and increased service during the festival:

MetroRapid

Both MetroRapid Routes 801 & 803 will get you to Republic Square to connect to more than a dozen other routes. MetroRapid operates past midnight most days and until 2:30 a.m. throughout most of the festival.

MetroExpress

For the duration of SXSW, MetroExpress Route 980 will operate on Saturdays in order to offer an alternative to overcrowded trains and get customers back to Lakeline or Leander if Downtown Station is crowded.

Late-Night Service

In addition to CapMetro's normal  Late-Night services, MetroRail and MetroRapid each run until 2:30 a.m. during most of SXSW. Late-Night service stops around midnight on Sundays.

MetroRail

While  MetroRail is a great way to get where you need to go during SXSW, it's likely our trains will be at capacity throughout the festival. The High-Frequency Network is a good alternative.

MetroRail will have extended hours and run until 2:30 a.m. during much of SXSW. The schedules for both weeks of the festival are below:
