CapMetro to Implement New MetroRail Schedule Through June

AUSTIN, Texas- CapMetro has evaluated its new MetroRail schedule this week and it has been a success, enabling the agency to provide a more reliable service for customers. The new schedule will stay in place until the next service change in June 2018, when the agency will implement a system wide redesign of its network.

“I want to thank our customers for their patience while we worked to develop a schedule that they can count on,” said CapMetro President/CEO Randy Clarke. “We know that in recent months, our service hasn't been as reliable as it had been in the past, but I am confident that this new schedule will provide the on-time service that our MetroRail customers deserve.”

To ensure a seamless transition, routes for rail connector buses have been adjusted as well.

Please refer to these schedules, beginning March 19:

The agency is currently working on two major construction projects along the 32-mile line. Additional passing points are being built that will enable the service - once the new Downtown Station is completed - to double its frequency and capacity. The other project involves implementing a federally mandated positive train control system, which will enhance the long-term safety of the service.

The rail construction projects will continue throughout 2018, and some service disruptions can be expected for the remainder of the year. Riders are encouraged to follow CapMetro's Twitter and Facebook feeds, download the CapMetro App and sign up for our Rider Alerts.
