Fall Adjustments to CapMetro Service Start Sunday

Changes include new route, other minor alterations

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Changes are coming to some CapMetro services beginning Sunday, Aug. 19. The changes include the addition of new Route 493 and school-related adjustments to other Local routes.

Additionally, CapMetro's  Summer Service Splash pilot programs will end Saturday, Sept. 1. Throughout the summer, students from kindergarten through the 12th grade have been able to ride all CapMetro services free of charge. The agency has also operated MetroRail on extended weekend hours. Both of those pilots will end Sept. 1.

The service changes are designed to address school and university calendars, streamline service and accommodate shifts in ridership. CapMetro invites public feedback year-round about its services and makes modifications three times a year.

Route 493

Route 493 Eastview will operate only on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new route will connect Lakeside Apartments, the RBJ Center, Oak Springs Villas Apartments and Lyons Gardens Apartments to shopping destinations.
The Eastview route is funded for three years through a Federal Transit Administration grant for the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities.

School-Related Adjustments
Every fall, CapMetro transitions UT Shuttle, E-Bus service and select trips on Local routes from summer schedules to in-school session service levels to accommodate the increased demand.

UT Shuttles
All UT Shuttles would transition from summer schedules to full service based on university calendars.
E-Bus Service - E-Bus service would be reinstated for the fall semester.

Local Routes
