CapMetro Announces Adjusted Holiday Service Schedule
Agency to operate adjusted service Christmas Eve and Day & New Year's Eve and Day
AUSTIN, Texas (December 22, 2020) – CapMetro will adjust services over the holidays to meet demand levels on Christmas Eve and Day, as well as New Year’s Eve and Day.
On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the agency will run Sunday level service with no MetroRail, Pickup, UT Shuttle, Night Owl, E-Bus or MetroExpress service. Furthermore, on Christmas Day, December 25, services will be further modified, with most bus routes operating at 30-minute frequencies.
Customers should note that on Christmas and New Year’s Days, MetroAccess subscription trips will be canceled. If customers would like to schedule those trips, they should call 512-852-7272.
CapMetro will offer regular service on New Year's Eve, with free rides after 5 p.m. on all its services, including MetroBus, MetroRapid, Pickup and MetroExpress. Free rides do not apply to MetroBike. Annually, CapMetro provides free rides on New Year’s Eve to ensure that Central Texans have safe transportation options on what can be one of the most dangerous nights of the year due to impaired driving.
Though the agency will still provide free rides on New Year’s Eve, customers are encouraged to follow all COVID-19 safety precautions and limit trips if possible. Face coverings and social distancing are still enforced on all CapMetro services.

Customer service reps will work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. After hours phone calls will be routed to our automated system, which can also help you plan your trip.
