Application to Join ATP Board Now Available
ATP, CapMetro and City of Austin Call for Community Expert in Planning and/or Sustainability
AUSTIN, TX (July 13, 2022) – An application to join the Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) Board of Directors is now open as the City and CapMetro look to fill a vacancy. The person appointed to this position will replace Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette, who resigned from the board last month, and will represent one of the three community experts that serve on the board. This board position will provide expertise in planning and/or sustainability, topics that are key to the implementation and further development of the Project Connect high capacity transit program.
ATP, an agency tasked with guiding and implementing Project Connect, works in partnership with CapMetro and the City of Austin, to deliver on the community’s transit vision in a way that embeds equity, sustainability and transparency. ATP’s Board of Directors provides strategic oversight of the Project Connect program and convenes the community, experts and partners who are crucial to achieving the community’s vision and goals for the program. In addition to the three Community Expert Directors, the board is made up of one voting and one ex-officio non-voting member each from CapMetro and the City of Austin.
Available Position: Community Expert Director in Community Planning or Sustainability
Term: Date of Appointment through January 2025
The community expert in Community Planning or Sustainability should have expertise in community planning or sustainability. In accordance with ATP’s Articles of Incorporation, applicants shall meet the following criteria:
- At least 10 years of experience in urban planning, community planning, equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD), sustainability and/or environmental planning.
- Experience with community engagement with preferably three to five years of specific experience.
- Community expert members of the ATP Board must be a resident of Austin.
- Applicants may also submit voluntary demographic information. This information will help the nominating committee understand whether the application process is inclusive of and reaching the diverse community ATP works with.
Community members interested in applying for the position must do so by 5 p.m. on August 12. ATP board member appointment is subject to approval by a nominating committee of the City of Austin and CapMetro.
