. To prevent fraud, we only accept credit cards (not debit cards or giftcards) and we will place a temporary $24 hold for the first 24 hours. All trips longer than 30 mins are charged $0.25 per overage minute.

CapMetro Reloadable Fare Card

Use our Reloadable Fare Card* onboard Bus and Rail. The card itself does not cost anything.

*You cannot use both the reloadable fare card and Umo app. You must choose one.

Tap to Pay on Bus

Boarding the Bus is fast and easy with Tap to Pay. Simply tap a contactless credit/debit card or payment-enabled phone or watch—no app needed!

  • Daily Fare Capping Included! Tap to pay riders will never pay more than $2.50 per day for standard fare. Once the daily cap is reached, remaining rides that day are free. Monthly fare capping is not available with Tap to Pay.
  • Tap to pay is not available on other CapMetro services.

Riders with Disabilities

CapMetro Access is a door-to-door, paratransit shared-ride service for registered customers with disabilities.

Reduced Fares

Reduced fares are available to qualified riders, and are generally half the price of our standard fares.

Who’s eligible for reduced fares?

  • Adults 65 and older
  • Medicare card holders
  • Active and reserve duty military ID holders not in uniform
  • Riders with disabilities

Equifare

Making our fares affordable to low-income riders or those enrolled in social programs. These valued riders depend on our services the most and our equifare programs ensure they get savings where they can.

Group Purchases

Purchase passes in large quantities. If you're a business looking to expand your employee incentives through adding transit passes – the CapMetro for Business program is designed for you.

CapMetro for Business is a bulk purchasing plan that allows organizations to offer discounted transit passes.

College Discounts

College students enjoy discounted fares! If you have a UT ID or Spring Green Pass from ACC, swipe these at the farebox. St. Edwards University or Huston-Tillotson University students can setup a digital pass in the Umo app. If you don't have an existing digital pass, apply for one through your employer or school.

Fair Fares for All

We provide deeply discounted and free passes to over 230 local social service agencies. We've contributed more than $1 million as a founding partner of the Transit Empowerment Fund (TEF). CapMetro offers the HMIS Integrated Fare Program for individuals facing homelessness and housing insecurity who are receiving services through Austin’s homeless response system. Eligible individuals can request a one year transit pass.
